FREDDY SUNDER

Freddy Sunder

Our big hero, father and grandfather Freddy Sunder conducted already orchestras when he was only 14 years old. In 1953 he released his first albums and hit the charts with “Kaw Liga”, “Rio Rita” and “Calling Car Boogie”. In 1961 he founded the band The Clouds.

Sunder jointed the Willy Rockin Orchestra for a while and toured in Europe, Africa and South East Asia. He played with a lot of stars like Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr., Natalie Cole, Shirley Bassey and Toots Thielemans.

From 1957 till 1965 he was the guitarplayer of Francis Bay’s BRT-orchestra (later the BRT-Jazzorchestra). From 1981 till 1990 he directed that same orchestra. He was also a devoted teacher at the Academy Of Music in Ghent.

His life motto was pretty simple, but he followed it rigorous: People first! Especially in music. We still produce, mix and make music in that spirit. It sounds like Freddy!

The spirit and genes of Freddy ensure a mix of inspiration and professionalism. Enough freedom to have ideas evolve on the spot and the experience to always keep our eyes on the end goal.

And if you ever wonder who in god’s name Jeannine is in our logo, she was the stronghold and muse to our Freddy. Because behind every great man… is an even greater woman.
